Double Impact Services is proud to announce the launch of TimeOut, a new initiative designed to support Nottingham City residents affected by gambling. The service, based in the heart of the city, is aimed at providing help to those who are struggling with gambling-related harms and offering a path to recovery.
Problem gambling is an issue that affects not only individuals but also families and communities. The harms associated with gambling can range from financial distress and relationship breakdowns to mental health challenges and social isolation. Double Impact, a long-established charity supporting recovery from addiction, recognises the urgent need for a targeted service that can address the complexities of gambling addiction and provide a peer support-based and solution-focused approach.
“We know how difficult it is for people to admit they are experiencing persistent difficulties with their gambling,” says Ben Jones, who is leading the proejct. “Many feel overwhelmed by the struggle to reduce or stop gambling, and often believe that nobody will understand why they gamble the way they do.” This lack of understanding, combined with feelings of shame and stigma, can often prevent people from seeking the help they need.
The new TimeOut service is designed to break through these barriers by offering a confidential and non-judgmental space where individuals can talk openly about their experiences and explore tailored support options.
“We’ve seen the impact of gambling on people’s lives, but we’ve also experienced for ourselves the hope and purpose that recovery can bring,” adds Ben. “Our team knows what it takes to stop gambling, stay stopped, and rebuild a life. TimeOut will be a place where people can find hope, guidance, and practical strategies that work for them.”
With the powerful message, 'It's never too early, it's never too late - ', TimeOut aims to support a broad spectrum of individuals—from those just beginning to recognise a problem to those who have struggled for years. It offers a range of services including one-to-one counseling, group support, and guidance on how to manage gambling triggers and build a more fulfilling life beyond gambling.
Double Impact’s approach draws on its years of experience working in addiction recovery and its deep understanding of the challenges people face when trying to break free from addiction. With the launch of TimeOut, the organisation is extending its reach to help those impacted by gambling and to raise awareness of the issue across Nottingham.
