Certificates were presented to volunteers who have supported walks, helped at community events, and represented the movement locally at partner stalls. Everyone also received a brand-new Stronger Roots T-shirt as a token of our gratitude.
The event also provided an opportunity to present to Nottinghan stakeholders a new joint identity for the movement - 'Stronger Roots', a shared vision with the initiative in Nottinghamshire county.
Stronger Roots captures the spirit of connection, resilience, and growth that underpins recovery. It reflects the belief that lasting change is built collectively, through supportive networks, shared opportunities, and a sense of belonging. By uniting Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, the hope is that the foundations and profile of recovery will be strengthened for the benefit of all.
This refreshed identity also ensures that the activity continues to align with the wider International Recovery Cities network, while staying rooted in local needs and priorities.
The key message of the day wa that 'Together, we are building stronger roots for a healthier, more inclusive future, one that reflects the strength and aspirations of all our communities.
It was a joyful and relaxed afternoon, complete with plenty of food, tea, coffee and laughter. Guests heard heartfelt reflections from both team members and volunteers, reminding them of the spirit that drives this work.
Miggy James, project lead in Nottingham said 'As we continue to grow and spread the word, we look forward to welcoming even more people into the Stronger Roots family. To all our volunteers, thank you for helping us stay grounded and grow stronger together!
