INSPIRING CHANGE AND POSITIVE CHOICE
Double Impact is a registered charity and not for profit organisation, established in 1998.
Our Mission is to provide a quality service, which promotes recovery and community integration for people who have experienced problematic drug and alcohol use. This is achieved by providing opportunities for personal development, recovery orientation, healthy choices, education, vocational training, and pathways to volunteering and employment.
By placing our service users’ needs at the heart of our ethos and their own treatment experience, we provide a uniquely holistic, flexible service. We believe that with the right support everybody can recover and that in recovery anything is possible.
We have an exciting new opportunity within the Stronger Roots Project (formerly known as IRC Nottingham):
Stronger Roots Nottingham – P/T Volunteering and Lived Experience Coordinator

Background Context
Double Impact is leading the Stronger Roots Project in partnership with Nottingham City Council to transform Nottingham into an Inclusive Recovery City (IRC). This initiative aims to combat stigma and foster an environment where individuals in recovery are fully integrated into society. An Inclusive Recovery City inspires and engages local civic and political figures, employers, universities, families and recovery champions within diverse communities to become part of a city-wide landscape which supports and celebrates recovery.
Summary of the Role
Reporting to the Stronger Roots Project Lead, you will be the bridge between our training initiatives and public-facing events and active community participation. A key focus will be building upon the initial engagement provided through our Recovery Ally training to develop interested parties/companies/organisations into dedicated volunteers or project champions.
In addition, you will engage directly with individuals and communities with lived experience of recovery (or family recovery),involving them in various volunteering roles that support the project's mission. Working collaboratively with the team, you will identify and develop new opportunities for people to "give back," creating a sense of hope and connection across the city.
What we are looking for:
• Lived Experience Engagement: Demonstrated experience in engaging individuals with lived experience of recovery or family recovery.
• Volunteer Coordination: Experience in developing volunteering pathways and managing volunteers or community champions.
• Passion for Recovery: A deep commitment to building Recovery Capital and the principles of the Inclusive Recovery Cities movement.
• Communication Skills: Experience working with a range of stakeholders from diverse social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Collaborative Spirit: The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to identify and grow project opportunities.
Closing Date: 10am Wednesday 20th May
