Role Overview
Double Impact’s expanding employment service is seeking a motivated IPS Employment
Specialist to support individuals in structured treatment for substance use to find and retain
meaningful employment. You will receive full training in the IPS (Individual Placement and
Support) model—an internationally recognised, evidence-based approach used across UK
drug/alcohol services and health settings.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of approximately 25 clients in structured treatment who are
motivated to start or return to work.
Initiate employer contact and job search activity within 4 weeks of engagement.
Build supportive relationships with employers to create and sustain job opportunities.
Provide personalised, ongoing support to clients and employers—including employer
education, return-to-work planning, and workplace adjustments—to ensure job retention.
Offer basic advice and signposting on welfare benefits to help clients make informed
decisions.
Work collaboratively with the treatment service, attending team meetings and acting as
an embedded IPS practitioner.
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Knowledge of the IPS model (or willingness to research it).
Experience helping or supporting people in any setting.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals—
from clients to CEOs.
Confidence approaching employers and promoting clients’ strengths.
Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
Understanding of the challenges faced by people with substance use issues.
Energy, enthusiasm, resilience and the ability to work to targets.
Strong organisational and written communication skills.
A full driving licence (essential).
Recruitment experience, lived experience of drug/alcohol use (personal or family),or a strong desire

Paid mileage (minus home-to-base):
o 45p per mile for electric vehicles or cars up to 1.3CC
o 54p per mile for vehicles 1.4CC or above
